Multifocal Intraocular Lens (MFIOL)
Some people use separate glasses for both near and far, while some people can see both near and far with a single pair of glasses. Multifocal lenses are intraocular lenses that enable both near and far vision.
These lenses have various rings. Some of these rings allow you to see far and some to see near. In this way, both distant and near images fall on the yellow spot in the eye, which allows us to see, and near and far vision can be achieved. Patient selection for this treatment is very important. The patient's postoperative expectation, whether seeing near or far is important for the patient, is one of the issues that should be taken into consideration. Another feature of the treatment is that it eliminates the cataract and finds a solution to the distance and near vision problems in the same session in patients who need cataract surgery. The surgery method applied is the same as the standard Cataract method. How is the Lens to be Used for Surgery Decided? Not all lenses used in cataract surgeries have the same features. The artificial lens placed inside the eye remains in the eye throughout the person's life. Since choosing a lens before surgery is a decision that will affect your entire life, you should make your decision by taking your doctor's advice into account.

What are the Features of Intraocular Lenses?
We can divide the lenses used in cataract surgeries into three groups.
With the single vision lenses in the first group, which we call Monofocal intraocular lenses, the patient sees far away, but has to wear glasses to see near, for example, to read books or newspapers.
The intraocular lenses in the second group are Bifocal lenses with two focuses: near and far.; The patient sees both near and far without glasses, but the middle distance, that is, the distance between 40 cm and 2 meters, cannot be seen.
Trifocal intraocular lenses, which we call Smart Lenses, are trifocal and lenses that solve this problem. When this lens is worn, the patient can see far, near and intermediate distance (distance between 40 cm and 2 meters) well without glasses.
What is the Difference of Trifocal Intraocular Lenses from Other Lenses?
Trifocal intraocular lenses are lenses developed to provide good far and near vision while also providing good vision at medium distance.
What we call middle distance; Vision is also provided at distances where vision quality is important, such as computer usage distance, television viewing distance, and access distance to the kitchen counter.
The UV protection feature of the lens protects your eyes from the harmful effects of sunlight and protects them from age-related diseases.
How Long Does the Surgery Take?
Smart Lenses are specially designed to make the surgery easier and shorter.
The duration of the surgery is shorter than most lenses. You can return to your work life and start doing your social activities 1 day after the end of the surgery.
